We want to take you to the less frequented part of Georgia, so that your first impression – or your final moments in the magical Sakartvelo – would be remembered in the best way possible. We believe that a drive through two breath-taking mountain passes located above 2000 m above sea level and a night in a rich in warm mineral springs tourist and health resort will become a great adventure!
We can carry out the plan from Batumi to the Kutaisi airport or the other way round, depending on your time of departure.
Sounds interesting? Here’s our proposition:
Morning departure from Batumi towards the Lesser Caucasus. Good mood, Turkish coffee and incredible views will accompany us all day long. For now, our target is a restaurant of our acquainted family located in the Goderdzi Pass (2025 m above sea level). There, we will taste some traditional adjaran cuisine, which you can’t find in any other region of Georgia and then, we will go down to Akhaltsikhe. In the evening, we will have a look at the mightiest fortresses of the region – Rabati, which history reaches the 9th century. Night in Akhaltsikhe.
After the breakfast we will continue the journey. On the group’s wish we can visit the cave monastery of Vardzia. From there, we will climb up, first to Abastumani. This town has its days of glory left behind, as it reached its staggering fame as a resort in the 19th century, but after the fall of the Soviet Union it has lost its investors. There are a lot of spas located there, where they treat respiratory diseases and anemia. One of the interesting points will be a visit in the local astronomical observatory (only if the visits will be possible). Next, there will await for us a wild Zekari Pass (2182 m above sea level), where you’d sooner see a freely running horses and pigs than any tourists.
We will stop for a meal near Kutaisi and, depending on the departure time, we will either tour a selected part of the Imeretia region or go straight to the airport.
